Beginner Class - Baby Chick: 16/01/2026

This class is perfect if you’re just wanting to begin your taxidermy journey. We go through all the steps from skinning to posing in this one day course.

What time it starts: Class begins at 9am sharp. It is a long day with a lot to cover, so it’s best to be on time!

How long the class is: The duration of the class can be up to 8 hours, perhaps longer if you are doing the class with another person.

What is included: We provide all the materials you need for the class.

  • Refreshments on arrival - tea, coffee, biscuits etc. and will be available through the day

  • Your chick specimen

  • All the tools and materials to take it apart and build it again

  • Lunch is also provided during the break time

  • A wooden base for mounting and display

What you’ll be learning:

This is the perfect class to do if you have never attempted taxidermy before.

  • You will learn how to skin a specimen

  • How to clean and prepare that skin

  • How to build the internal form

  • How to mount the skin on the form and

  • And finally, posing

Where it is located: Classes are held in my studio on the NSW Central Coast - details outlined when you purchase a spot.

What you need to bring (All optional!): While we provide all the tools you’ll need for the class itself, if you’d like to bring along other things to make yourself more comfortable, you’re more than welcome to!

  • Your phone if you want to take photos

  • A notebook if you’d like to take notes or sketch

  • A jacket in case it gets cool
