Intermediate Class - Mynah Bird: 31/01/2026-1/02/2026
In this class we go over everything you need to taxidermy a fully grown bird from start to finish. This class can generally only be booked if you have either completed the baby chick class, or if you have evidence of prior taxidermy experience with either birds or mammals (please note invertebrates do not count). Because of the detailed nature of this course, it needs to be held over two days.
What time it starts: Class begins at 9am sharp on both days. It is a long couple of days with a lot to cover, so it’s best to be on time!
How long the class is: The duration of the class can be up to 8 hours, perhaps longer if you are doing the class with another person.
What is included: We provide all the materials you need for the class.
Refreshments on arrival - tea, coffee, biscuits etc. and will be available through the day
Your bird specimen
All the tools and materials to take it apart and build it again
Lunch is also provided during the break time
A wooden base for mounting and display
What you’ll learn:
Building on the basics of what you learned in the chick class, this class will give you more detailed instruction on how to mount adult birds. In addition to the basics of skinning and mounting, bigger birds require more attention.
Avian anatomy
Thoroughly fleshing the specimen
Wiring the wings
Feathering
Where it is located: Classes are held in my studio on the NSW Central Coast - details outlined when you purchase a spot.
What you need to bring (All optional!): While we provide all the tools you’ll need for the class itself, if you’d like to bring along other things to make yourself more comfortable, you’re more than welcome to!
Your phone if you want to take photos
A notebook if you’d like to take notes or sketch
A jacket in case it gets cool
If you really want to mount your bird on something other than the standard provided base, you are more than welcome to bring it along. Just make sure it’s sturdy and can be drilled into.
